PURPOSE:
The purpose of the LWVPV is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in government and to act on selected governmental issues.

We help put Laws on the books. Every national League position is based on nationwide study & consensus among members. In the consensus process members draw on balanced pro/con materials. Once a position is reached, the League marshals all of its tools to influence the shape of public policy. Grassroots lobbying efforts are the key to the League legislative success. Strategies include testimony, letters and telephone calls to key legislators, working in coalition with other groups, community outreach and media campaigns.

POLITICAL POLICY:
The LWVPV may take action on local governmental measures and policies in the public interest in conformity with the Principles of the LWVUS, and may take action on state legislative measures affecting Nye County particularly, provided authorization has been received from the State Board of the LWVN.  The League and Board of Directors shall not support or oppose any political party or candidate.
